 Are you a hand-on senior operations engineer wants to work with an all-star team and is looking to take the next big step in your career?  Shop It To Me, a hot, profitable startup in the online shopping space with described by Sara Lacy at Business Week as the "Twitter of Shopping Applications",  is looking for a great senior operations engineer to help us manage the system administration of the next generation shopping personalization engine. You'll be working in a fun environment in the start-up filled San Francisco South Park neighborhood with an all-star team which includes graduates from Harvard and Berkeley and with backgrounds from Tell Me, Microsoft and Gap Inc... 

Specifically, we are looking for someone who can excel at:

• Automating configuration, deployment, maintenance, and monitoring
• Helping architect operations to optimize throughput, stability and security while keeping costs down
• Partnering with the development team to ensure operational integrity as new architectures are designed and developed
• Building and managing an operations team as the business grows
• Thinking strategically and planing out expansion opportunities as the company grows

Initially in this job upwards of 75% of your time will be spent developing tools to automate configuration, maintenance, deployment and monitoring of systems. While we have significant pieces in place already, there's still much room for you to make a big impact, especially as we branch out to multiple datacenters with more products. You'll work closely with the development team to ensure operational issues are considered throughout the development process, and you will be the key person in charge of making sure our operations run smoothly.

Responsibilities Include:

• Automate configuration of new systems, management of existing systems, deployments
• Establish 24/7 monitoring, problem identification, escalations, and notifications related to all production systems, and services including building dashboards and metrics to improve our view into system performance.
• Manage capacity planning, system monitoring, and system load testing processes
• Identify operational issues impacting service levels and drive their resolution
• Partner with development to review, accept and ensure proper integration of new services into production environment
• Build and manage an operations team as the business grows
   

Requirements:

• 6+ years experience administering servers in production environments
• Linux skills and experience, including bash scripting
• Strong hands-on experience with Installing and configuring Linux/Unix servers, MySQL databases, storage, networks, security, infrastructure management/monitoring tools such as God
• Solid ability to program systems automation in ruby
